About the Artist:
Gary Weeter is both an architect and watercolor artist. Upon his retirement to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, he began directing his energy and passion to this exciting and challenging medium.
His work covers a wide range of subjects. "However, because of my architectural background, my subject matter often includes some form of the built environment. As I travel, I am always on the lookout for an interesting street scene or dilapidated building to photograph for a future painting."
Gary is a "Signature Member" of the Southwestern Watercolor Society; a prestigious recognition for having a minimum of five paintings accepted into the society's annual open juried exhibition. Mr. Weeter is also a member of Mid-Southern Watercolorists and Brush Strokes of Hot Springs Village.
He participates in many group shows, and has studied under such internationally known watercolorists as John Pike, Edgar Whitney, Robert Woods and Al Stine. His recent studies include watercolor workshops with Joseph Fettingis, Ratindra Das, Frank Francese and Hot Springs watercolorist Richard Stephens.
Recently his painting "Peek-A-Boo" won the Linda Merkle Memorial Award in the Mid-Southern Watercolorist's 39th Annual juried exhibition. In addition, his painting "Peek-A-Boo" is one of eighteen paintings selected in 2009 by the Arkansas Arts Center for their 39th Annual Statewide Traveling Exhibition.
